MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine men’s football squad settled for a scoreless draw against Afghanistan in its first assignment in the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup early Wednesday (Manila time) in Addu City, Maldives.
The kick-off of the match was delayed for an hour due to rough weather as the teams still needed to ride a boat going to the stadium.
The Filipinos and the Afghans wound up with one point apiece at second place in group B behind Turkmenistan, which leads with three points after a 5-1 win over Laos.
The Azkals square off with Laos on Thursday night as the group stage continues.
